“Lacie and WWD is truly the most amazing company/woman!! I’m so blessed to have met her and to have worn one of her hand sewn creations. I’ll never get over her kindness and her talents!! She was so welcoming the whole time and made me feel like I had known her my whole life! She even sent cute little “bride happys” throughout the process. If anyone has a chance to work with WWD I hope they take the chance. Worth every penny.”

She communicates effectively & seeks her client's opinions. Her attention to detail & craftsmanship is impressive and her stitches are just beautiful. We highly recommended this company.”

About the Experience

Interview with Kristie Freeman about her experience with Wisteria Way Designs

What made you choose custom design and why WWD?

“I just happened to stumble upon (Wisteria Way Design’s) Instagram one day and just dove into everything WWD as soon as I found it. I looked on the website and noticed WWD custom designs and revisions of older/used dresses. I always knew I wanted something unique so when I found WWD I knew they would be the one to make my dress.”

Walk us through the process

“It was so easy. I met Lacie like five minutes from mom’s house, she came to me making it even easier. We had already talked online and on the phone so we kind of knew what each other was thinking and what I wanted. She brought some dresses she had designed and I tried them on. When I found the one I liked most we talked about where/what she would change to make it even more custom. The lace, the details, everything. I still can’t get over how perfect it was. The sleeves!! She took pieces of my mom’s dresses and pinned them to the dress showing me every step before she completed anything. Once it was done my mom, me, and my sister drove to her home for a fitting. She made sure it fit me perfectly for my big day. She even made me a hair piece I wore from my mom’s dress. She gave me the rest of the dress in case my sister wanted to use it one day and we took the dress and went home. It was such an easy, special process. I felt like we were truly friends. She listened to me, made me the most beautiful creation.”

How did you decide to incorporate your mother’s gown?

“I always wanted something unique and my moms dress was way too 80s for me but I also loved parts of it, like the lace. When I realized WWD could not only make my dream dress but also make it affordable, I knew that’s what I wanted to do. That way I could have something meaningful in my dress, my mom, my best friend.”

How did you feel about the price point?

“Beyond affordable. I can’t get over how affordable the dress was. I don’t think you can go to any boutique for a better price and this was a CUSTOM dress!!”

How did the process make you feel?

“It made me feel special and beautiful. It was one of the things I didn’t have to stress about while planning the wedding.”

What was your mother’s reaction?

“My mother was over the moon. She was touched I wanted to wear her dress (also shocked, because again, so very 80s lol) but she was even more in shock to see the outcome. It looked nothing like her dress, it was made for me. But it was special because she and I knew what was hers.”

What are your plans for the future of your gown?

“I’ve already preserved the dress. I definitely want it to be a family heirloom. I’d never choose a dress for my daughter but I’d be honored if she did want to do something similar with my dress one day. She could make it her own with a piece of me and her grandmother.”

Looking back how did your dress and it’s eaning affect your overall wedding experience?

“It made it more special. Our entire wedding was put together by me, my husband, and family. This dress was just another handmade special touch. It made our day even more of a vintage fairytale.”
